TRAVELLING THAILAND PART 1

I'm typing this in 'notes' on a sixteen hour coach jouney from Bangkok to the south of Thailand.

  1. I never thought I'd be writing this
  2. This is so not me

After reassurance from my 12 friends, we've travelled happily for hours. We haven't slept in a bed in three days and at times, we've been running on empty... fuelled by laughing and laughing only.

It's extraordinary - I can't explain the feeling.

Last night we were drinking Chang, sat on a rooftop in murky Bangkok dancing to Dua Lipa. 'Living for moments like these' is a direct quote I overheard from my friend whilst someone else was pulling off otherworldly Jenga moves.

I always used to envision travelling as unclean, tiresome, OK, even vomit inducing (my travel sickness track record isn't so good). And whilst it's been tiring so far - at three days in - I can tell you confidently that it's been one of the most fun experiences of my life.

I don't know what tomorrow holds, and we don't know when our heads will hit a pillow that's not made from budget memory foam and designed for long haul flights.

I don't know what our next meal will be or what time the sun comes up. I don't even know if Ben will stop catching flies in his sleep, but I know that we're all together and anything that happens next is going to be another memory for the bank.

Omar helped me down the stairs of our first hostel on the way to the coach (nope, no lifts), previous to that, people have carried my bag for me as everyone knows I can be a bit of a princess. Shout out to Sophie, who has done all of this before!

My friends adjusted my straps and I can actually carry all 65 litres by myself now which feels like a bit of an achievement! How ridiculous do I sound?!

So, wrapping it up, we're 6 hours away from Koh Samui, where we'll be staying close to the beach and boating it to and from Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party - tonight!

I don't want to speak too soon, but I'm writing this smiling as the 12-strong gang are sleeping soundly. It's probably a good thing that they can't see my huge Cheshire cat grin right now.
